Watched Main Hoon Naa ,
I guess all those ****ed up rumours about SRK being the bad guy turned out to be a load of crap . The movie is pretty watchable IMHO . Good performaces by SRK , Boman Irani and Suneil Shetty . I wont go into the entire story , but its your usual , run of the mill Good v/s Evil thingy , with a lot of jikna special effects and decent humour added for the MASALA factor that is so important for Indian audiences .
The movie is tailor made for the Indian audience - full of song and dance and fight scenes that remind me of Superman :-) . Loads of SFX borrowed from the matrix , with SRK flying all over the place to rescue Kabir Bedi , Naseruddin Shah , Zayeed , Amrita , some geeky gid and the rest of Darjeeling .He also uses his special slow motion powers , borrowed from Keaneu Reeves , to avoid saliva bullets , that the Physics teacher ( Satish Shah ) spews whenever he opens his mouth .
There is a beautiful chase sequence in which SRK chases the bad guys who are travelling in a Mahindra Scorpio . It would have been even better , had Farah Khan not put SRK in a Cycle rickshaw . Can you imagine , an army officer chasing a Scorpio , while riding a rickshaw ( manual , none the less ) !!!!. Mahindra and Mahindra better consider filing a case against the producers , coz a rick catching a Scorpio cant be good advertising for them .
The BS doesnt stop there . The climax is even better , with SRK pulling the pin off a granade , and managing to talk to the baddie ( Shetty ) for so much time , that I can take a quick nap and come back to watch the granade explode .
But I guess one must expect at least a little bit of jikna from these movies . Otherwise it wouldnt be bollywood . As usual , there is the regular quota of melodrama , with Naseeruddin Shah revealing to SRK , on his death bed , that SRK is an illegitimate child , and SRK fulfilling his father's dying wishes of reuniting the family , aka Kiron Kher - the quintessential bollywood Maaa , and Zayeed - the kidbro .
The funny thing is , SRK is Ram , Zayeed is Lakshman and Suneil Shetty is Ra(gh)avan . I see the names have been borrowed from Ramayan . I wonder what is Bal Thakrey's take on that :-) .
Amrita Rao and Sush look stunning , in their semi conventional outfits . And the college students in Darjeeling are dressed as if they are on the catwalk in Paris . But hey , Im not complaining . I pay good money for tickets - I expect to see some good MAYO :-) .
All in all , worth a watch .
Will post later on Cannibal Holocaust - the most gruesome movie in the history of mankind .
